Dinner the Local way

Ambuyat, a local delicacy.
Clockwise from the top:
Ikan masak Ampap (fish dish on the sour side),
Ulam-ulaman (raw cuts of local vegetables) with Sambal Belacan (spicy prawn paste),
Tempoyak and Binjai Cecah (dipping condiment made of fermented Durian and Binjai fruit, which makes the whole meal extra yummy),
Udang Goreng (fried prawns),
Kangkong Goreng dengan Belacan (vegetables fried in prawn paste),
Daging Urat Tumis (fried pieces of meat with its fatty trimmings),
and last but not least in the center is Ambuyat, a sticky Ambulong (Sago) paste which is the central dish and eaten with Candas or "Malay chopsticks".
It's quite common to find this served at a variety of local restaurants... so when in this country, have a go... although, fair warning given that this meal desires an aquired taste!
